Opportunities for intra-regional trade and collaboration along the T&C sector in the MENA region
The GTEX/MENATEX programme, in collaboration with Euromonitor International, carried out an in-depth study to highlight the existence of complementary areas and considerable opportunities for cooperation amongst actors at macro, meso and micro level participating in the T&C sectors of Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia.

These opportunities were classified into three broad areas:

a) Opportunities related to the exchange of T&C goods and services amongst member countries of the Agadir Group
b) Opportunities to increase foreign direct investment in the T&C sector within the region
c) Opportunities to improve coordination of the T&C value chains of member countries to increase efficiency and generate value for Agadir partners

The International Trade Centre (ITC) will use the study results and the recommendations within the framework of the GTEX MENATEX project. The results and recommendations also highlight important opportunities for the Agadir Technical Unit, policy-makers and the private sector in the four countries to stimulate necessary reforms to ease trade and collaboration along the T&C value chain. This includes increased trade for products and brands originating in the region and intermediate products to foster a regional supply chain development.

Objectives of the Webinar:
1. Present and discuss regional insights emanating from the study “Opportunities for intra-regional trade and collaboration along the T&C sector in the MENA region”;
2. Present the work undertaken by the Agadir Technical Unit aimed at increasing regional integration along the T&C value chain, and discuss how to implement the relevant opportunities emerging from the study
3. To adopt an action plan or a declaration aiming at enhancing trade and investment in the context of the Agadir Agreement.
